India Ranks 43rd in IMD World Competitiveness Rankings 2019

  • India has moved up one place to rank 43rd in the 2019 edition of the IMD World Competitiveness Rankings, mainly due to its robust economic growth, a large labour force and its huge market size.
  • The index has been topped by Singapore, followed by Hong Kong and United States at second and third position respectively.
  • Venezuela ranked last in the index at 63rd.
  • The World Competitiveness Rankings, released by IMD Business School, Switzerland was established in 1989.
  • The index uses 235 indicators to rank 63 economies on the basis of their ability to foster an environment where enterprises can achieve sustainable growth, generate jobs and increase welfare for its citizens.
