India and Fiji inks MoU for cooperation in the field of agriculture and allied sectors

  • A virtual meeting was held between the Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, GoI, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar with Dr. Mahendra Reddy, Minister of Agriculture, Waterways & Environment, Government of Fiji, on June 22, 2021.
  • During the meeting, both the ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of Agriculture and allied sectors.
  • This MoU will further strengthen the multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.
  • The MoU provides for cooperation in the fields of:
    1. Dairy Industry Development,
    2. Rice Industry Development,
    3. Root crop diversification,
    4. Water Resources Management,
    5. Coconut Industry Development,
    6. Food Processing Industry Development,
    7. Agriculture Mechanization,
    8. Horticulture Industry Development,
    9. Agricultural Research,
    10. Animal Husbandry, Pest and Disease,
    11. Cultivation, Value Addition and Marketing,
    12. Post-Harvest and Milling,
    13. Breeding and Agronomy
