Important Cabinet Approvals on February 28, 2019

Given below is the list of Memorandum of Understandings of India with various countries approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi 

  • Argentina – Cooperation in the field of Medical Products Regulation
  • Tajikistan – Cooperation in the field of Renewable Energy
  • Norway – Undertaking non-intrusive Geological Surveys and Investigations 
  • USA – Access tip line reports on Missing and Exploited Children 
  • UK – Cooperation in Weather and Climate Sciences 

The cabinet has also approved the following proposals

  • Inclusion of Common Services Centres under MEITY as Enrolment Agency for PM-SYM
  • Setting up of a Railway Zone at Vishakhapatnam and a new division with headquarter at Rayagada by reorganizing the existing South Central Railway and East Coast Railway.
  • Relaxation in Aadhar related Conditions for the release of Second Instalment under PM – KISAN scheme.
  • Joining of IEA Bioenergy TCP by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas as a Member
  • National Mineral Policy, 2019 to Focus on transparency, better regulations & enforcement, balanced growth & sustainability Grant of Industry status to Mining activity
  • Promulgation of an Ordinance to amend the definition of “person”, as defined in sub-section (v) of section 2 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005)
  • Setting up of a Centre for Disability Sports at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, to be registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
  • Creation of two posts of Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in the Central Government in terms of Section 74(2) of The RPwD Act, 2016 to assist the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities 
  • Construction of four lane bridge including approaches over River Brahmaputra between Dhubri (on North Bank, Assam) and Phulbari (On South Bank, Meghalaya) on NH-127B with loan assistance from JICA 
  • Investment proposal for transmission component of Arun-3 Hydro Electric Project (Nepal portion) by Sutlej Jal Vikas Nigam(SJVN) Limited 
  • Approved the “Pradhan Mantri JI-VAN (Jaiv Indhan- Vatavaran Anukool fasal awashesh Nivaran) Yojana” for providing financial support to Integrated Bioethanol Projects using lignocellulosic biomass and other renewable feedstock. 
  • Relaxation in Aadhaar related Conditions for Second Instalment under PM – KISAN scheme 
  • New Delhi International Arbitration Centre Ordinance, 2019
  • Kanpur Metro Rail Project worth Rs.11076.48 Crore  to be completed in 5 years 
  • Agra Metro Rail Project worth Rs. 8,379.62 Crore to be completed in 5 years 
  • Constitution (Application to Jammu & Kashmir) Amendment Order, 2019 
  • Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019 
  • Promulgation of Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019 
  • Homeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019 
  • National Policy on Software Products – 2019 to develop India as a Software Product Nation.
  • Soft loan to sugar mills to facilitate payment of cane dues of the farmers for the current sugar season 
  • Implementation of scheme titled ‘Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India Phase II (FAME India Phase II)’ with total outlay of Rs 10000 Crores over the period of three years with effect from 1st April 2019.
  • Financial support for Tertiary Care Programmes for non-communicable diseases and e-Health  upto 2020  with an outlay of Rs.2551.15 crore:
  • Establishment of new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Manethi, District Rewari, Haryana at a cost of Rs. 1299 crore
  • Implementation of Master Plan to convert All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi into a world class Medical University.
  • ‘In Principle’ approval for strategic disinvestment of 100% GoI’s equity shares in Kamarajar Port Limited to Chennai Port Trust in a single process through strategic sale 
  • Funding Rs. 1450 crore for the share capital of RBI in National Housing Bank, NHB 
  • Laying Down Procedure and Mechanism for Asset Monetization of CPSEs/PSUs/other Government Organizations and Immovable Enemy Properties 
  • Foreign investment of more than Rs.5000 crore and up to Rs.25,000 crore by way of a Rights issue of M/s. Vodafone Idea Limited 
  • Development of New Greenfield Airport at Hirasar, Rajkot, Gujarat 
  • Setting up of SPV for disinvestment of Air India and its Subsidiaries/JV 
  • Revised cost for the Asian Development Bank assisted North Eastern State Roads Investment Programme now called the North East Road Sector Development Scheme
