Important Cabinet Approvals: November 27, 2019

The following proposals and MoU were approved during the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on November 27, 2019:

MoUs approved

  • Myanmar – bilateral cooperation for Prevention of Trafficking in Persons; Rescue, Recovery, Repatriation and Re-integration of victims of Trafficking.
  • Saudi Arabia – Establishment of Strategic Partnership Council
  • Saudi Arabia – combating illicit trafficking and smuggling of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Chemical Precursors.
  • Chile – signing of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) and Protocol for the elimination of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion and avoidance with respect to taxes on income.

Proposals approved

  • Increase the authorized capital of Food Corporation of India (FCI) from existing Rs.3,500 crore to Rs.10,000 crore.
  • Approved the negotiating stand of India at the 25th Conference of Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) scheduled to be held in Madrid, Spain (under the Presidency of Chile) from 2-13 December 2019.
  • Approved the Fifteenth Finance Commission to submit first report for the first fiscal year viz. 2020-21 and to extend the tenure of XV-FC to provide for the presentation of the final report covering FYs 2021-22 to 2025-26 by 30th October, 2020.
  • Allotment of 1800 sqm of Airports Authority of India’s (AAI’s) land to Andhra Pradesh Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation (APEWIDC) for the construction of Ceremonial Lounge at Tirupati Airport.
  • Mandatory packaging of foodgrains and sugar in jute material for the Jute Year 2019-20.
  • Waiver of repayment of loan of Rs.54 lakh and interest thereon, amounting to Rs.370.40 lakh, totalling Rs. 424.40 lakh plus the amount of interest that will accrue on total amount, from 01.04.2019 till this approval outstanding against the Sikkim Mining Corporation.
