IDFC First Bank launches ‘Ghar Ghar Ration’ scheme
- The IDFC First Bank has launched a unique Employee-funded program called ‘Ghar Ghar Ration’ for its low-income customers who were affected by Covid-19.
- Under the Ghar Ghar Ration scheme, the employees of the bank have contributed their personal income to help such customers who are affected by the deadly pandemic.
- It is a first such employee-led initiative by any bank.
Key features of the scheme
- The Ghar Ghar Ration program will supply ration kits to 50,000 low-income customers whose livelihood have been impacted by the novel coronavirus pandemic.
- The ration kits will include, 10 kg rice/ flour, 2 kg lentils, 1 kg sugar and salt, 1 kg cooking oil, 5 packets of assorted spices, tea and biscuits, among other daily essential items needed to support a small family for about a month.
- For the customers in rural locations, the ration kits will be delivered physically by employees and in urban locations, employees will provide pre-paid cards worth Rs. 1800 to affected customers, who can be use the same to buy essential supplies.
- 1000 ration kits have already been disbursed in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Haryana successfully by the bank.
