  • Ministry of Finance, Government of India had formed a committee to look into the matter of holding examinations for clerical cadre in Public Sector Banks (PSBs) in regional languages.
  • The government of India had advised IBPS to not conduct the Clerical level exams until the above said committee submits its report.

Recommendation of the Committee

  • Now finally the committee has submitted its report in which it has recommended that the Clerical level exams for all 12 public sector banks will be conducted in the 13 regional languages along with English & Hindi. i.e. in 15 languages. This will apply to both Prelims as well as Mains examination.
  • This decision of holding clerical exams in regional languages will also apply to future SBI Clerical vacancies.

Benefit of the Recommendation

  • The decision will benefit the banking sector as now the local youth can work in PSBs and have an upper hand with the customers through local/regional languages.

When will IBPS Clerk Vacancy be announced?

  • With this now it is expected that IBPS will soon release the notification for the IBPS Clerk exam.
