Home Minister Inaugurates “Waste to Wonder” Park in South Delhi
- The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated first of its kind “Waste to Wonder” Park in New Delhi under the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC).
- The SDMC has made this park by creating replicas of the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ using scrap of automobile parts and other metal waste like fans, rods etc.
- In all 150 ton scrap/waste has been used to create the park in 180 days at the total cost of Rs 7.5 crore.
- Equipped with solar panels, solar trees and a windmill, the park is self-sustainable.
- The Minister termed the park as creation of ‘Wealth from waste’.
Wonders Installed in the Park includes:
- USA’s Statue of Liberty
- Brazil’s Christ the Reedmer
- Paris’s Eiffel Tower
- India’s Taj Mahal
- Rome’s Largest Amphitheatre Colosseum
- Italy’s Leaning Tower of Pisa
- Egypt’s Pyramid of Giza
