Hockey India Wins Etienne Glichitch Award, Odisha CMs Secretary VK Pandian Awarded With FIH Presidents Award

  • Hockey India has been honored with FIH Honorary Awards by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) as part of its 47th FIH Congress, for its outstanding contributions to the sport of hockey.
  • Hockey India won the Etienne Glichitch Award in recognition of its remarkable contribution to the growth and development of Hockey.
    • The Etienne Glichitch Medal is awarded by the Executive Board of FIH once every two years for significant contribution to the growth and development of the sport at local, continental, national or international level.
  • Apart from this, V. Karthikeyan Pandian, the IAS officer and Private Secretary to Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik, has been recognised with FIH Presidents Award during the Congress
  • Karthikeyan was awarded for his contribution towards the development and promotion of hockey in Odisha.
    • The President’s Award is usually awarded to individuals, who are not members of the FIH, for their long and valuable services to hockey, whether direct or indirect, or services that have had an indisputable beneficial effect for hockey at international level.
