Guwahati Railway Station Becomes First in Northeast to get ISO Certification
- The Guwahati Railway Station has become the first ever Northeastern railway station to get an ISO certification.
- The certificate got by the Guwahati railway station is called ISO 14001:2015, given by National Green Tribunal (NGT), for “providing passenger amenities in Clean & Green Environment”.
- It is also the first railway station in India to receive ISO certification from NGT.
- ISO-14001 certification is provided for Environment Management System as per international norms which were upgraded in 2015.
- The station is equipped with High-class reserve (VIP) lounge, waiting rooms, AC and non-AC retiring rooms, food courts and sanitation facilities.
- ISO stands for “International Organisation for Standardisation” and is responsible for setting the standard in different areas of activities.
