Guidelines for Lockdown 4.0 in India (till May 31)

The Central Government in India has extended the lockdown in view of COVID-19 till May 31, 2020. This is the fourth stage of lockdown and is popularly termed as Lockdown 4.0.

Ministry of Home Affairs has issued detailed guidelines for Lockdown 4.0. The same is presented below followed by a summary of it.

Summary of Lockdown 4.0

Whats prohibited

  • Domestic and International flight
  • Metro rail services
  • schools, colleges, educational and training/coaching institutions will remain closed
  • hotels, restaurants (however home delivery is permitted)
  • All cinema halls, shopping malls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars and auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places.
  • All social/ political/ sports/ entertainment/ academic/ cultural/ religious functions/ other gatherings and large congregations.
  • All religious places/ places of worship shall be closed for public. Religious congregations are strictly prohibited.

What permitted (Other than contaminated zone) 

  • Inter-State movement of passenger vehicles and buses, with mutual consent  of the State(s)/ UT(s) involved.
  • Intra-State movement of passenger vehicles and buses, as decided by the  States and UTs.
  • Sports complexes and stadia will be permitted to open; however, spectators will not be allowed.

Points to remember

  • Night curfew- Night curfew shall prevails. Which means that movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited between 7.00 pm to 7.00 am, except for essential activities. movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited between 7.00 pm to 7.00 am, except for essential activities.
  • Persons above 65 years of age, persons with co-morbidities, pregnant women, and children below the age of 10 years, shall stay at home, except for essential and health purposes.
  • All other activities will be permitted, except those which are specifically prohibited.
