Government sets up 25-member Development Council for Cement Industry, under Dalmia Bharat Group CMD Puneet Dalmia
- Centre has set up a 25-member Development Council for Cement Industry (DCCI), to suggest ways for eliminating waste, obtaining maximum production, improve quality, reduce costs and promote standardization of products.
- The Council will be chaired by Dalmia Bharat Group CMD Puneet Dalmia.

- Apart from these, Presidents of Akhil Bhartiya Cement Mazdoor Maha Sangh, Builders’ Association of India, and Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India along with labour commissioners Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan will be the other members.
- The members of the council have been appointed for a period of two years.
Key Function of the Council
- recommend measures for securing the full utilization of the installed capacity and for improving the working of the industry, particularly of the less efficient units;
- promote training of persons;
- promoting or undertaking scientific and industrial research.
- work for standardization of accounting and costing methods and practice;
- promoting the adoption of measures for increasing the productivity of labour, including measures for securing safer and better working conditions.
- promoting or undertaking inquiry as to materials and equipment and as to methods of production, management and labour utilization, including the discovery and development of new materials, equipment and methods.
