Freedom fighter Kaliannan Gounder Who Was Last Surviving Member of First Parliament of India Passes Away at 101
- The noted Gandhian, and freedom fighter, T.M. Kalliannan Gounder, who was the last surviving member of the first parliament of India, has passed away. He was 101.
- Tamil Nadu based Kalliannan Gounder joined the Indian National Congress at 19, and also participated in the Quit India movement.
- He was elected to the Indian Constituent Assembly at the very young age of 28.
- Besides being the member of India’s first provisional parliament, 1950–1952, he was also the youngest member in the Indian Constituent Assembly then.
