Former Petroleum Secretary MM Kutty to head Commission for Air Quality Management in Delhi-NCR and Adjoining Areas

  • The Centre has set up the ‘Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas’.
  • MM Kutty, the former secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and ex-Chief Secretary to Delhi government has been appointed as the Chairperson of this new body to manage the air quality management in Delhi-NCR and adjacent areas.
  • This commission will replace all earlier committees formed for this purpose.
  • It will have power to prohibit activities that are likely to cause or increase air pollution in the NCR and adjoining areas as well as issue directions and orders suo moto and entertain complaints under any existing law.
