Facebook to launch its digital currency ‘Libra’ in 2020
- Social Media giant, Facebook has announced that it will launch its digital currency named ‘Libra’ in 2020.
- The digital wallet subsidiary of Facebook called ‘Calibra’ will launch the blockchain-powered cryptocurrency ‘Libra’.
- Libra would be in Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and as a stand-alone app in 2020 and will help people globally who don’t have a bank account but do have a mobile phone.
- Facebook has tied up with 27 organizations around the world to start the non-profit Libra Association to create the new currency.
