Dharmendra Pradhan Launches Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC) Program to Boost Local Innovation
- Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Steel Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched the Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC) in New Delhi on July 31, 2019 and urged NITI Aayog to open innovation Centres in all Gram Panchayats of the country to promote local innovation.
- ACIC is an initiative by Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), flagship initiative of NITI Aayog, to serve as the bridge between the knowledge base existing in communities and the advanced technical ecosystem existing in the market base to address the needs of society.
- ACIC programme aims to encourage the spirit of innovation at the community level in specific areas that lack the required infrastructure and facilitating innovation ecosystem.
- ACIC programme would focus in over 484 districts located in unserved/underserved regions of India.
