Devendra Fadnavis Takes Oath as Chief Minister of Maharashtra for Second Term

  • The veteran BJP member, Devendra Fadnavis has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the second term on November 23, 2019.
  • Ajit Pawar of Nationalist Congress Party has been sworn in as the deputy CM.
  • The oath was administered by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

India ranks 8th in WHO study on physical activity among adolescents; Top- Bangladesh

  • As per The Lancet Child and Adolescent Health report of the World Health Organisation (WHO), India has been ranked at 8th spot in terms of the lowest level of insufficient physical activity among adolescents.
  • Bangladesh tops the list while USA’s adolescents figure fourth on the list of 146 countries. India is ranked eighth with an overall prevalence of insufficient physical activity in adolescents at 73.9 percent.

Indian Army Dedicates Army Goodwill Park To Celebrated Soldier Lt. Naib Subedar Chuni Lal in Jammu & Kashmir

  • An Army Goodwill Park has been dedicated by the Indian Army as a tribute to the late Naib Subedar Chuni Lal, at his native Dhara village of Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu & Kashmir.
  • The park was inaugurated by the Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh on November 22, 2019.
  • Chuni Lal is the most decorated soldier who was awarded with
    • Sena Medal in 1987
    • Vir Chakra in 2000
    • Ashok Chakra (posthumous) in 2007
  • The park features a statue of the martyr, a children park, a fountain and an open gym to improve the overall ambience of the park.

World’s biggest Islamic Congregation Aalmi Tablighi Ijtima Begins in Bhopal

  • The world’s biggest Islamic Congregation, Aalmi Tablighi Ijtima, began in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on November 22, 2019.
  • The four-day congregation will continue till 25th November.
  • More than one million people from 54 countries are expected to attend the congregation, for delivering some important religious-spiritual messages to Muslims around the world.
  • Ijtima began in the era of Nawabs in Bhopal and now it has become the identity of Bhopal worldwide.
  • The first Alami Tablighi Ijtima took place in Bhopal in 1944.

Agrovision 2019: India’s Premier Agri Summit, Inaugurated in Nagpur

  • The Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the 11th edition of Agrovision, an Agricultural exhibition, which is scheduled from 22-25 November, 2019 at Reshimbagh Ground, Nagpur, Maharashtra.
  • Agrovision is one of “India’s Premier Agri Summit” to create a prosperous agrarian society where farmers are well informed about the latest practices and agriculture becomes a remunerative and attractive profession.
  • The theme of the 11th Agrovision is “Smart Technologies for Sustainable Development”.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Releases Documentary ‘Shikhar se Pukar’ by Ravindra Kumar to promote ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’

  • The Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat released the short documentary film on Water Conservation titled “Shikhar se Pukar” by author Shri Ravindra Kumar, District Magistrate Bulandshahr.
  • The film has been made to promote ‘Jalshakti Abhiyan’ and create awareness about water conservation “Jal Sanrakshan Abhiyan”.
  • The documentary is based on Journey of an IAS Officer Ravindra Kumar, who climbed Everest in 2019 to attract the attention of people from top of the Everest on the serious issue of Water Conservation and stopping Water Pollution.
  • The mountaineer named his expedition as “Swachh Ganga Swachh Bharat Everest Abhiyaan 2019”
  • Shri Kumar has climbed Mt. Everest twice, first in 2013 and again on May 23, 2019.

Kalaburagi Airport Inaugurated in Karnataka Under UDAN / RCS

  • The Chief Minister Of Karnataka Shri B S Yediyurappa inaugurated the Kalaburagi Airport on November 22.
  • The airport has been built under the UDAN-RCS Scheme of Government of India.
  • The Kalaburagi Airport started its operation with the first flight taking off to Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.
  • The airport is spread across 742 acres and developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 176 crores.
  • With the operation of Kalaburagi airport, the North-east Karnataka region is set to have air connectivity to Bengaluru and the rest of India under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik)-Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS).

Chitharesh Natesan Becomes first Indian to be crowned Mr Universe 2019

  • Delhi-based Chitharesh Natesan from Kerala has become the first Indian to be crowned Mr Universe 2019 title at the 11th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship (WBPF) 2019 held in South Korea from November 5 to 11, 2019.
  • The 33-year-old former hockey player turned bodybuilder is also known as the ‘Indian Monster’ by bodybuilding circles.
  • Natesan won the Mr World 2019 title in the 90 kg division category and competed with rest of the Mr World 2019 winners from other weight categories to be declared the overall winner of Mr Universe 2019.
  • India finished second in the Championship with 23 medals including six gold, 13 silver and four bronze medals.
