World’s largest mobile factory in Noida

  • Samsung India Electronics’s manufacturing facility in Block B, Sector 81, Noida that has now become the world’s largest mobile factory; on July 7, 2018.
  • One of the first electronics manufacturing facilities set up in the country in the early 1990s, the plant started by manufacturing TVs in 1997. The current mobile phone manufacturing unit was added in 2005.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Moon Jae-in will inaugurate the new 35-acre Samsung Electronics facility at Sector 81 in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
  • The company is currently making 67 million smartphones in India and with the new plant being functional, it is expected to manufacture nearly 120 million mobile phones.

17th World Sanskrit Conference to be held in Vancouver, Canada

  • Human Resource Development Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar will inaugurate the 17th World Sanskrit Conference to be held at Vancouver, Canada from 9th July to 13th July, 2018.
  • The purpose of this conference is to promote, preserve and practice the Sanskrit language all over the world by the people.
  • The World Sanskrit Conference is being held in various countries across the globe once in every three years and so far it has been held thrice in India.

World Cities Summit 2018 starts in Singapore

  • The 6th World Cities Summit 2018 started in Singapore and will continue from July 8th to July 12th 2018. 
  • The aim of the event is to explore how cities can be more liveable and resilient through better governance and planning, technology and social innovations, as well as collaborations with various stakeholders with other cities. 
  • The summit will be held together with the Singapore International Water Week and the CleanEnviro Summit Singapore at the same venue.
  • Theme for 2018: “Liveable & Sustainable Cities: Embracing the Future through Innovation and Collaboration”.

Late filing of e-KYC form to attract fees of Rs 5,000: MCA

  • Company directors who fail to file their annual e-KYC form will now have to pay Rs 5,000 fees as per Corporate Affairs Ministry (MCA).
  • In the case of current financial year 2018-19, no fee would be chargeable till August 31, 2018 and fee of Rs 5,000 would be payable on or after September 1, 2018.
  • For directors who had been allotted Director Identification Number (DIN) on or before March 31, 2018 and whose ‘DIN’ is in ‘approved’ status, the MCA had stipulated that they would have to file form DIR-3 KYC on or before August 31 this year.

“PARI” a humanoid Robot launched on The Nepal SBI Bank Ltd completing 25 years

  • The Nepal SBI Bank Ltd has completed 25 years of its operations in Nepal.
  • The Nepal SBI Bank Ltd was established in 1993 as a subsidiary of State Bank of India with paid up capital of Rs.12 crore. Now it has become one of the leading bank in Nepal having Rs.805 crore paid up capital and over 8 lakh customers.
  • The latest version of “PARI” a humanoid Robot was also unveiled. PARI is an interactive robot that can recognize human faces and assist them by responding to their queries. It was launched in July 2017.

Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal honoured at UK Houses of Parliament

  • Veteran playback singers Anuradha Paudwal and Kumar Sanu were felicitated by politicians from the Indo-British All Party Parliamentary Group at the UK Houses of Parliament. 
  • They were honoured in recognition of their outstanding contribution in the field of music and social service.

Dipa Karmakar wins gold in Gymnastics World Challenge Cup

  • India’s gymnast Dipa Karmakar clinched the gold medal in the vault event of FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup at Mersin, Turkey.
  • This is Dipa’s first medal in a World Challenge Cup. She is from Tripura.
  • Rifda Irfanaluthfi of Indonesia clinched the silver while Goksu Uctas Sanli of Turkey took the bronze medal.

Sebastian Vettel wins the 2018 British Grand Prix with Hamilton second

  • Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel won the 2018 British Grand Prix F1. Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes was on second position. Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari was on third position.

Former Meghalaya Governor, MM Jacob passed away

  • Senior Congress leader and former Meghalaya Governor M.M. Jacob died at a private hospital in Kerala at the age of 92.
  • MM Jacob was also the Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Water Resources and Home Affairs in the cabinets of former Prime Ministers Rajiv Gandhi and PV Narashima Rao.
