Cabinet Approves Increase in Minimum Support Price of Kharif Crops for 2019-20 Season
- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved to hike the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) of all Kharif crops for 2019-20 Season to boost farmers’ income,
- The decision is in line with the principle of fixing the MSPs at a level of at least 1.5 times of the all India weighted average Cost of production as announced in the budget 2018-19.
- MSP of Kharif crops has been increased by following rate:
- Paddy: Rs 65 per quintal
- Jowar: Rs 120 per quintal
- Bajra: Rs 50 per quintal
- Ragi: Rs 253 per quintal
- Maize: Rs 60 per quintal
- Tur (Arhar): Rs 125 per quintal
- Moong: Rs 75 per quintal
- Urad Pulses: Rs 100 per quintal
- Groundnut: Rs 200 per quintal
- Soyabean: Rs 311 per quintal
- Sunflower seed: Rs 262 per quintal
- Sesamum: Rs 236 per quintal
- Nigerseed; Rs 63 per quintal
- Cotton (medium staple): Rs 105 per quintal
- Cotton (long staple): Rs 100 per quintal
