Anup Chandra Pandey Appointed as Election Commissioner of India

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Shri Anup Chandra Pandey has been sworn in as the Election Commissioner (EC) of India with effect from June 09, 2021.
Mr. Pandey joins the Election Commission of India (ECI) as second Election Commissoner.
The three-member body is headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sushil Chandra and the other EC, Rajiv Kumar.
Mr. Pandey is a 1984 batch Indian Administrative Service Officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre.
He has worked in various ministries and departments at the centre and his state cadre UP, including the post of Uttar Pradesh chief secretary.
Prior to joining the EC, he was the member of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) Oversight Committee, Uttar Pradesh.
