11th India-Russia biennial bilateral maritime naval exercise ‘INDRA NAVY’ organised in Bay of Bengal
- The 11th edition of the biennial bilateral maritime exercise INDRA NAVY between Indian Navy and Russian Navy has been organised from 4-5 September 2020 in the Bay of Bengal.
- The primary aim of the two day exercise is to further boost the inter-operability built up by the two Navies over the years and enhance understanding and procedures for multi-faceted maritime operations between the two Navies.
- INDRA NAVY-20 would be undertaken in a ‘non-contact, at sea only’ format due to restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The Indian Navy will be represented by guided missile destroyer Ranvijay, indigenous frigate Sahyadri and fleet tanker Shakti, along with their integral helicopters.
- The Russian Federation Navy will be represented by destroyer Admiral Vinogradov, destroyer Admiral Tributs and fleet tanker Boris Butoma of the Pacific Fleet, based at Vladivostok.
