UP Government Launches “Scheme for Adolescent Girls”

  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched ‘Scheme for Adolescent girls’ in the state on February 21, 2019.
  • The objective of the scheme is to take care of the education of girls, aged between 11 to 14 years,  till graduation, who have left studies and also take necessary steps for proper nutrition and special care for them. 
  • The state government has also decided to observe 8th of every month as Adolescent Girls Day at Anganwadi centres across the state. 
  • In addition to this, Nutrition Campaign for the adolescent girls will be organised on 8th March, 2019. 

Ravi Shankar Launches VIVID 2019 in New Delhi

  • The Union Minister of Electronics and IT, Law and Justice Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, inaugurated the VIVID (Vision Insight and Voices as India goes Digital)- the District Informatics Officer (DIO) meet in New Delhi on February 21, 2019.
  • The VIVID 2019 meet has been organised to interact with the DIO’s to share their experiences and contribution as digital change-makers at the grass-root level in the States. 
  • The two days event has been organised by National Informatics Centre (NIC) 

Kerala Police becomes first in India to introduce humanoid robot in police force

  • The Kerala State Police has become first in India to induct humanoid robot into the police force. The robot has been named KP-Bot.
  • KP-Bot is designed to provide round-the-clock service, involving public interface and front office administration and overcome human limitations to avoid, to the extent possible, human error. KP-Bot would work alongside human beings

Justice D.K. Jain appointed as BCCI ombudsman

  • The Supreme Court has appointed Justice D.K. Jain as the Ombudsman of BCCI to deal with disputes arising in the BCCI in its administrative affairs.

Veteran film producer Raj Kumar Barjatya passed away

  • Popular film producer Raj Kumar Barjatya passed away at the age of 77.
  • He was popular for films like ‘Hum Aapke Hai kaun’ and ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’.

International Mother Language Day : February 21

  • International Mother Language Day (IMLD) is observed every year on 21 February since 2000 to promote the preservation and protection of all languages.
  • It was first declared by UNESCO in 1999 and then recognized by the United Nations through a resolution in 2008 to observe the year as the International Year of Languages
  • Theme 2019 – Indigenous Languages as a Factor in Development, Peace and Reconciliation.
  • 2019 is also the International Year of Indigenous Languages
