NASA’s First Astrobee Robot “Bumble” Starts Flying Under Its Own Power in Space
- A cube-shaped free-flying robot named ‘Bumble’ has become the first Astrobee robot to fly under its own power in space.
- NASA dispatched two of the three Astrobee robots to the International Space Station in April 2019. Bumble is the first one to take the flight.
- Other Astrobee robot dispatched is named ‘Honey’ while the third robot ‘Queen’ will be dispatched in July 2019.
- These Astrobee are free-flying robot system to help researchers in testing new technologies in zero gravity and perform routine work alongside astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
