- Noted Punjabi novelist and short storyteller Dr Dalip Kaur Tiwana has passed away due to health issues. She was 84.
- Dr Tiwana was the recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri and Sahitya Akademy awarde.
- She returned her Padma Shri award against increasing intolerance in the country in 2015.
