NASA Decommissions its Spitzer Space Telescope after Over 16 Years in Service
- The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has decommissioned its Spitzer Space Telescope on 30 January 2020, after being into service for more than 16 years.
- The Spitzer Space Telescope (SST), formerly the Space Infrared Telescope Facility (SIRTF), was an infrared space telescope launched in 2003 by US space agency to study the universe by detecting cosmic infrared radiation.
