- Malik has joined the NBT on deputation from the Indian Army on January 8, 2020.
- He takes over from Sahitya Akademi-awardee writer Rita Chowdhury.
- NBT is an Indian publishing house functioning under aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India.
