India ranked 59 in IMD World Talent Ranking Report; Top- Switzerland

  • India has been ranked at 59 in the IMD World Talent Ranking out of 63 countries. Switzerland has topped the ranking.
  • Denmark was placed second and Sweden, was in the third place.

Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurates SARAS IITF 2019 in New Delhi

  • The Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Agriculture Shri Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the SARAS India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2019 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on November 18, 2019.
  • SARAS Mela is an initiative by the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India.
  • It aims to bring the rural women SHG members formed under DAY-NRLM, in one platform to showcase their skills, sell and build linkages with potential market players.

12th Urban Mobility India Conference and Expo 2019 Held in Lucknow

  • The 12th Urban Mobility India Conference and Expo 2019 was held from November 15 to 17 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
  • The conference was organised by Institute of Urban Transport (IUT) under the aegis of Union Ministry of Urban Development.
  • The theme of the conference was “Accessible and liveable Cities”.
  • During the event, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) won two awards which included:
    • ‘Last Mile Connectivity’ Project in the category of Best Non-Motorised Transport and
    • ‘Green Metro project – An Initiative for Sustainable and Viable Urban Transport’ in the category of the Best Green Initiative in Urban Transport.

International Principal’s Education Conference (IPEC) Inaugurated in Nagpur

  • The 3-day International Principal’s Education Conference (IPEC) was inaugurated in Nagpur, Maharashtra by the RSS Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on November 19, 2019.
  • The conference is based on the theme “Scripting the Legends of Human Excellence through Schools.”
  • As a part of the event, Super 30 founder and noted mathematician Anand Kumar was honored with Nachiketa Sarvottama Award.

Government Bans Meghalaya-based insurgent group Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council over increased activities of violence

  • The central government of India has banned the Meghalaya-based insurgent group Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) for its increased activities of violence and other and other anti-India programmes
  • The notification released by the MHA said “The HNLC along with all its factions, wings and frontal organisations has been banned for their involvement in activities aimed at breaking away those parts of Meghalaya which are inhabited by Khasi and Jaintia tribals, from India.”
  •  “Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967), (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the central government hereby declares the HNLC, along with all its factions, wings and front organisations as unlawful association.”

ISRO To Launch Cartosat-3 Satellite and 13 Commercial Nano Satellites On November 25

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch its earth imaging and mapping satellite named Cartosat-3 on November 25 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
  • In addition to this, 13 commercial nano satellites from the US would also be launched.
  • The launch would take place onboard Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C47).
  • This will be the 21st flight of PSLV in ‘XL’ configuration (with 6 solid strap-on motors).
  • The Cartosat-3 is a “third generation agile advanced satellite” with high resolution imaging capability.
  • The satellite would be placed in an orbit of 509 km at an inclination of 97.5 degree.

Max Verstappen wins Brazilian Grand Prix 2019

  • Max Verstappen (Red Bull – Belgian-Dutch) has won the Formula One Brazilian Grand Prix 2019.
  • The Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc clashed in the race due to which Verstappen was able to take the lead and ultimately win the race.
  • Pierre Gasly of France was on second position and was the first podium position for him while Lewis Hamilton remained on third.

World Toilet Day: November 19

  • World Toilet Day (WTD) is observed every year on 19 November to inspire action to tackle the global sanitation crisis.
  • The day was established by the World Toilet Organization in 2001 and officially declared by UN General Assembly in 2013.
  • 2019 theme– Leaving no one behind.
