Andhra Pradesh govt launches Nadu-Nedu’ program for transforming govt school

  • YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has launched the ‘Nadu-Nedu’ programme which aims at transforming government schools into vibrant and competitive institutions.
  • The scheme was launched on November 14, 2019 i.e Children’s Day.
  • The total budget of the scheme is Rs 12,000 crores. Out of this, Rs 3,500 will be spent in the first year. All schools will be covered under the scheme in three years. In the first phase of the scheme, 15, 715 schools will be covered.

UP govt launches e-Ganna app, web portal

  • Uttar Pradesh government has launched a web portal and a mobile application named e-Ganna App, for sugarcane farmers of the state.
  • Cane supply slip will now be issued to the farmers by sugar mills online. e-Ganna App will help in eradicating cane mafia and middleman and strengthen cane development societies.

Sishu Suraksha App launched in Assam

  • Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) has launched a mobile app named ‘Sishu Suraksha’ for the protection of rights of children of Assam.
  • The purpose of the app is to empower citizens to take moral responsibility of protecting future generations. The app can be used by anyone in the state to lodge a complaint which will be directly registered at Commission.

Brazil President, Jair Bolsonaro to be the Cheif Guest at Republic Day 2020

  • Prime Minister Modi invited the President of Brazil, Mr. Jair Messias Bolsonaro to be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day 2020. The Brazilian President has accepted the invitation with pleasure.
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met H.E. Mr. Jair Messias Bolsonaro, President of Brazil on the sidelines of the 11th BRICS summit at Brasilia on 13 November 2019.

UK India Business Council releases annual doing business in India Report for 2019

  • The UK India Business Council (UKIBC) on Wednesday released its 5th annual Doing Business in India Report.
  • 56 per cent of the survey respondents have stated that it is getting easier to do business in India, and only 21 per cent saying that it has not improved (while 23 per cent were undecided).
  • The first Doing Business in India report was published in 2014.
  • Maharashtra has topped in terms of States and Union Territories that are performing best on the ease of doing business followed by Delhi on second.

Moody’s revises India GDP forecast to 5.6 % in 2019

  • Moody’s Investors Service has revised its GDP growth rate prediction for India for Calender Year 2019 to 5.6% from its earlier prediction of 5.8%.
  • India’s GDP growth rate prediction for 2020 as per Moody’s- 6.6%.
  • India’s GDP growth rate prediction for 2021 as per Moody’s- 6.7%.
  • The rates have been released in the Global Macro Outlook for 2020-21 by Moody’s.

Google to launch checking accounts next year in a tie-up with Citigroup

  • Google will launch a checking account service next year in a collaboration with Citigroup and a credit union at Stanford University. It will be launched under a project code named Cache.
  • Google is working on a system that will host checking accounts clearly bearing the brands of the financial institutions.

NCDEX ties up with NSE Indices to launch AGRIDEX, India’s first agri index

  • National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) has partnered with NSE Indices Limited and launched  India’s first agri index — ‘NCDEX Agridex’, for easy reference to price variations in agricultural commodities.
  • The AGRIDEX tracks and replicates the performance of the ten most liquid commodities traded on the NCDEX’s platform.
  • It is an index futures contracts.

Dutee Chand named in TIME 100 Next list

  • TIME magazine has released its first-ever TIME 100 Next and Indian athlete Dutee Chand has been named in the list.
  • TIME 100 Next is a new expansion of the TIME 100 list of the most influential people in the world.
  • It is just a list of 100 people and not a ranking. English cricketer Ben Stokes has also been named in the list.
