BSF launches Operation ‘Sudarshan’ to fortify anti-infiltration along Pak Border

  • The Border Security Force (BSF) has launched an ‘anti-infiltration grid’ along the Pakistan border in Punjab and Jammu named ‘Sudarshan’.
  • It will cover the entire 1,000 km length of the India-Pakistan International Border.
  • A fleet of heavy and small all-terrain vehicles has been mobilised in these areas as the field commanders are moving in those localities

YSR ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme to be extended to tenant farmers

  • The Andhra Pradesh government has announced that its ‘YSR Rythu Bharosa’ Scheme will now also be extended to tenant farmers.
  • Earlier the scheme did not cover tenant farmer. There is a limit that the scheme is applicable to farmers with land area less than 5 acres.
  • It will offer investment support of Rs. 12,500 per annum per farmer. It will also free crop insurance and interest-free loans to farmers. In total Rs 50,000 will be given to a farmer in four installments of Rs 12,500.

Elavenil Valarivan Clinches Silver in Women’s 10m Air Rifle at 2019 World University Games

  • Tamil Nadu based shooter Elavenil Valarivan clinched silver at the 10m Air Rifle Women’s event of the Napoli 2019 World University Games (Summer Universiade). This is the first medal for India in the tournament.
  • Czech Republic’s Lucie Brazdova clinched gold.

Vinesh Phogat, Divya Kakran wins Gold medal at Grand Prix of Spain

  • India’s wrestler Vinesh Phogat and Divya Kakran have won Gold Medal in 53 Kg category and 68 kg category respectively at the Grand Prix of Spain.
  • Among otther Pooja Dhanda (57kg), Seema (50kg), Manju Kumari (59kg) and Kiran (76kg) won silver medal.

World Zoonoses Day: July 6

  • The World Zoonoses Day is marked on July 6 every year since 1885 to spread awareness about the zoonotic diseases like swine flu, bird flu, cat scratch fever, rabies, leptospirosis, Lyme disease, cowpox, Ebola, SARS etc.
  • It marks the day when Louis Pasteur administered his first rabies vaccine.
