Ministry of Tourism to organise 12 day long Paryatan Parv

  • The Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with other Central Ministries, State Governments and Stakeholders is organizing the second edition of “Paryatan Parv”, a nation-wide celebration of Tourism, from the 16th to 27th September, 2018.
  • Paryatan Parv is being organized reinforcing the principle of “Tourism for All”. The three components of Paryatan Parv, are:with the objective of:
    • Dekho Apna Desh: To encourage Indians to visit their own country.
    • Tourism for All: Tourism Events at sites across all States in the country are being organised.
    • Tourism & Governance: Interactive Sessions & Workshops with Stakeholders on varied themes will be organised across the Country
  • The Tourism Ministry will organize the India Tourism Mart (ITM) from 16th to 18th September, 2018 in partnership with the Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH) in New Delhi.

India has third highest number of family-owned businesses in the world: Credit Suisse Report

  • According to the ‘Credit Suisse Family 1000 in 2018’ report, published by the Credit Suisse Research Institute (CSRI), in terms of the number of family-owned businesses, India ranks third globally in terms of the number of family-owned businesses with 111 companies of $839 billion total market capitalisation.
  • Top- China with 159 firms; Second- United States with 121 firms.

Delhi sixth in 2018’s edition of Global Metro Monitor; Dublin top

  • As per the  2018’s edition of Global Metro Monitor report of Brookings Institution, Delhi is sixth best performing metropolitan economy in the world.
  • Irish city Dublin has topped the list with nearly “unprecedented” GDP per capita growth.
  • Other Indian cities in the list are: 14. Hyderabad; 19. Surat; 23. Mumbai (Total 4 Indian in the list of 300)

Country’s first tribal tourism circuit inaugurated in Chhattisgarh

  • The country’s first tribal tourism circuit was today inaugurated in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh.
  • The tourism circuit is being developed under the Swadesh Darshan scheme. It covers 13 sites in Chhattisgarh.
  • The objective of the Tribal Tourism Circuit is to showcase the state’s rich and diverse tribal culture and traditions to the tourists.
  • The key components for development under the project are ‘Ethnic Tourist Village’ and ‘Ethnic Tourist Development’, Destination Development and Wayside amenities.

Argentina’s central bank holds monetary policy rate at world-high 60 percent to fight inflation

  • Argentina’s central bank kept its key interest rate on September 11, 2018 at 60 percent, the highest in the world. 
  • Central Bank of Argentina President – Luis Caputo.

Global Green Bond Partnership (GGBP) launched

  • Global Green Bond Partnership (GGBP) was launched at the Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS). The Global Climate Action Summit 2018 was held in San Francisco, California.
  • The founding members of the Global Green Bond Partnership GGBP include the World Bank, IFC – a member of the World Bank Group, Amundi,  European Investment Bank, Climate Bonds Initiative, Ceres, ICLEI , Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) and the Low Emissions Development Strategies Global Partnership (LEDS GP).
  • This new partnership will support efforts of sub-national entities such as cities, states, and regions, corporations and private companies, and financial institutions to accelerate the issuance of green bonds.

Bollywood Writer Brij Katyal Passes Away

  • Veteran film and TV shows writer Brij Katyal passed away battling cancer. He was around 85-86 years old.
  • Katyal was known for TV shows such as Pal Chhin and Saans and films like Jab Jab Phool Khile.

Hindi Diwas Observed on September 14

  • Hindi Divas or Hindi day is an annual day celebrated on 14 September in India.
  • Hindi Divas is celebrated on 14 September because on this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the official language of the Republic of India. It was adopted under the Article 343 of the Indian Constitution.
