Prime Minister Modi launches APIX technology in Singapore

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the APIX (Application Programming Interface Exchange), a banking technology platform designed to reach nearly two billion people worldwide who are still without bank accounts.
  • Prime Minister Modi launched the technology platform with Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore T Shanmugaratnam. 
  • Mr Modi is the first Head of Government to deliver his address at Singapore
  • The APIX will support banks to reach out to those without bank accounts in 23 countries including the 10 ASEAN members.

NCDC launches “Yuva Sahakar-Cooperative Enterprise Support and Innovation Scheme”

  • National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has come up with a youth-friendly scheme ‘Yuva Sahakar-Cooperative Enterprise Support and Innovation Scheme” to cater to the needs and aspirations of the youth and attracting them to cooperative business ventures.
  • The scheme will be linked to Rs 1000 crore ‘Cooperative Start-up and Innovation Fund (CSIF)’ created by the NCDC. It would have more incentives for cooperatives of North Eastern region, Aspirational Districts and cooperatives with women or SC or ST or PwD members.

Union Minister Mahesh Sharma inaugurates 38th India International Trade Fair in New Delhi

  • Union Minister of State for Culture, Mahesh Sharma inaugurated the 38th edition of India International Trade Fair (IITF) in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. (Nov 14- Nov 27)

India International Cherry Blossom Festival 2018 begins in Meghalaya

  • The third edition of the India International Cherry Blossom Festival 2018 started in Shillong, Meghalaya.
  • It was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in the presence of Japanese Ambassador to India, Kenji Hiramatsu. 

Twitter India launches #Powerof18 initiative for youth civic engagement in elections

  • Twitter has launched a social initiative called #PowerOf18, aimed at encouraging the youth of India to contribute to public debate and participate in civic engagement in the upcoming election season.

World’s 1st underwater hotel opens in Indian Ocean

  • Maldives has opened the world’s first underwater hotel, which is situated in the Indian Ocean. 
  • The hotel will cost Rs 36 lakh per night. The hotel is situated 16 feet deep in the Indian Ocean and has been opened by the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island of the Maldives. 

India puts into orbit communication satellite GSAT-29

  • India successfully launched its latest communication satellite GSAT-29 (3,423 kg) with its heaviest rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV-Mk III) into the geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO) .
  • It was the second developmental flight for GSLV-Mk III. The launch was done from Satish Dhawan Space Centre of ISRO.

Hima Das appointed UNICEF India’s youth ambassador

  • Hima Das has been appointed as the first ever youth ambassador of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) India.
  • UNICEF India works with central government to ensure that each child born in this country gets the best start in life, thrives and develops to his or her full potential.

World Diabetes Day : 14 November

  • World Diabetes Day is observed by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization on November 14 in response to the escalating health threat posed by diabetes.
