PM Modi inaugurates Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Krishnarajapura Metro Line of Bangalore Metro

• The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Krishnarajapura Metro Line of Bangalore Metro on March 25, 2023 and also took a ride in the newly inaugurated metro.
• The 13.71 km stretch from Whitefield (Kadugodi) Metro to Krishnarajapura Metro Line is a part of Reach-1 extension project under Bangalore Metro Phase 2.
• Apart from this, PM also inaugurated Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR) at Chikkaballapur.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurates 103 feet high tricolor and several projects in Karnataka

• The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 236 development works worth Rs 4500 crore in Raichur, Karnataka on March 26, 2023.
• Home Minister also inaugurated Gorata Martyr Memorial and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial, as well as unfurled the 103 feet high tricolor at Gorata ground in Bidar, Karnataka..
• Apart from this, the minister unveiled the statues of Lord Basaveshwara ji and Nadaprabhu Kempegowda ji at the State Assembly premises in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Anupriya Patel inaugurates 23rd INDIASOFT in New Delhi

• The Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Ms. Anupriya Patel inaugurated the 23rd edition of INDIASOFT at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on March 27, 2023.
• INDIASOFT, held consecutively since 2001, is a platform for Indian tech developers and global consumers to meet and connect with each other.
  • Some 650 delegates from 80 countries are participating in the three-day event.
  • More than 1500 Indian exhibitors are showcasing their products and solutions at the event.
  • Over 70 new products will be launched.
• The event will also assist Global Outreach of Indian Electronics and IT Industry to enhance their exports.
• INDIASOFT is organised by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC).

ISRO’s LVM3 rocket successfully launches 36 OneWeb satellites into orbit

• The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launch vehicle, LVM3, successfully placed 36 satellites belonging to OneWeb Group Company into their intended orbit on March 26, 2023.
• This was the sixth consecutive successful flight of LVM3, ISRO’s heaviest rocket, belonging to OneWeb.
• The 43.5 metres tall and 643 tonnes heavy LVM3, lifted off from the second launch pad at SDSC-SHAR, Sriharikota, with a total payload of 5,805 kg.
• It was the 18th launch of OneWeb, bringing the total OneWeb’s constellation to 618 satellites.

S&P Projects India’s GDP at 6% in FY24 and 7% in FY23

• S&P Global Ratings has forecasted India’s economic growth to remain unchanged at 6 percent in the fiscal year 2023-2024 beginning from April 01, 2023.
• For current financial year ending March 31 (2022-23), GDP is expected to grow at 7 percent.

• S&P further expects India’s gross domestic product (GDP) to rise to
  • 6.9% in 2024-25
  • 6.9% in 2025-26
  • 7.1% in 2026-27

First Citizens Bank enters deal with FDIC to buy Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) assets and liabilities

• The US Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has entered into a purchase and assumption agreement with First Citizens Bank & Trust Company, for all deposits and loans of collapsed lender Silicon Valley Bank (SVB).
• The First Citizens will buy assets of $110 billion, deposits of $56 billion and $72 billion of SVB’s loans at a discount of $16.5 billion.
• The 17 branches of Silicon Valley Bridge Bank, National Association, will now operate as First–Citizens Bank & Trust Company with effect from March 27, 2023.

Centre Extends Last date for linking of PAN-Aadhaar

• The last date for linking PAN and Aadhaar has been extended by the Government to 30 June, 2023, in order to provide some more time to the taxpayers.

Boxer Nikhat Zareen become 2nd Indian to win multiple Gold at Women’s World Boxing Championship

• India finished with the highest number of gold medals, that means 4 gold, at the 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship.
• The 13th edition of the championship was held at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in Delhi, from 15 to 26 March 2023.
• Indian pugilists Nikhat Zareen won gold medal in the 50 Kg light flyweight category bout finals, when she beat two-time Asian champion Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam with a 5-0 scoreline.
• This was the second successive hold medal of Nikhat in the World Championship.
• She is now the second Indian female boxer to win multiple gold medals at the World Championship. after pugilist Mary Kom.

Noted Malayalam actor and former MP Shri Innocent Vareed Thekkethala passes away at 75

• Veteran Malayalam film actor and former Lok Sabha MP, Innocent Vareed Thekkethala has passed away battling Covid-19. He was 75.
• Thekkethala predominantly worked in Malayalam films. However he had also worked in few Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and English films, mostly in comedic roles.
• He had served as the Member of Parliament  (MP) in the 16th Lok Sabha (2014-2019) representing Chalakudy constituency.

CRPF Observes 84th Raising Day on March 25, 2023 in Chhattisgarh

• The 84th Raising Day of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was organised at Bastar in Chhattisgarh on March 25, 2023.
• It is for the first time that CRPF’s annual celebration was held in a Naxal-affected area.
• Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended the event, at Karanpur camp of the 201st battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), an elite anti-Naxal unit of the CRPF.

• The World Theatre Day is celebrated all over the world on the 27 March since 1962 to promote the art form “theatre” across the world.
• The theme of 2023 World Theatre Day is ‘Theatre and a Culture of Peace’.
• The day was initiated in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI).
• Every year the Executive Council of ITI choses an outstanding theatre personality to write the message for World Theatre Day.
