Centre to infuse Rs 12,000 crore in three state general insurance firms

The Department of Financial Services has approved the capital infusion of Rs 12,000 crore in the three state-run general insurance companies to improve their financial conditions.
The three insurance companies are: National Insurance, Oriental Insurance and United India Insurance.
These three insurance companies are due for merger as announced in last year’s budget. These could not be mered due to some regulatory and operational issues.
