- Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Baripada, in Odisha on January 5, 2019 where he inaugurated and laid foundation stone of several projects worth around Rs 5,399 crore
- Some of the projects inaugurated includes:
- Conservation and development of Rasika Ray Temple, and Excavated Structure at Ancient Fort Haripurgarh;
- Balasore-Haldia-Durgapur section of the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur LPG pipeline of IOCL;
- Multi Modal Logistic Park at Balasore;
- 6 Passport Sewa Kendras (Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jajpur, Aska, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal) and
- Doubling of Naranpur-Basantpur and Chillikidara-Sagadapata line.
- PM Modi also flagged off the second passenger train from Tatanagar to Badampahar.
- He laid the foundation stone for three national highway projects of nearly 200 km including: Four-laning of Rimuli-Koida section of NH-215 (new NH-520), four laning of Koida-Rajamunda section of NH-215 (new NH-520) and four-laning of Singara-Binjabahal section of NH-6 (new NH-49) at a cost of Rs 3,318 crore.
