London Becomes World’s First city to Implement 24×7 Pollution Charge Zone, ULEZ
- In order to reduce air pollution and protect public health, London has come up with a special Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) where vehicles will have to meet tough emissions standards to enter or pay an entry charge if they do not meet the standards.
- The ULEZ will be operational for 24 hours and seven days in a week.
- Drivers can check whether their vehicle meets the emission standards of the zone by using an online tool provided by Transport for London.
- With this, London has become the first ever city in the world to implement such a program to tackle air pollution.
