Government Introduces Transport and Marketing Assistance (TMA) Scheme for Specified Agriculture Products

  • The Government of India has come up with a scheme called ‘Transport and Marketing Assistance’ (TMA) to provide financial assistance for exporting specified agriculture products to international market.
  • The assistance will be given for the international component of freight and marketing of agricultural produce which in turn will reduce the cost of transportation as well as promote brand recognition for Indian agricultural products in the specified overseas markets.
  • Currently the scheme will be effective from 1 March 2019 to 31 March 2020.

Eligibility Criteria Under the TMA Scheme

  • The assistance will be provided on export of only those agriculture products that are covered in HSN chapter 1 to 24 including marine and plantation products.
  • Scheme shall cover all exporters registered with relevant Export Promotion Council as per Foreign Trade Policy
  • Exports shall be made through EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) ports only
  • It will cover Freight and marketing assistance for export by air as well as by sea
  • TMA Assistance would be provided in cash through direct bank transfer
