4th Global Digital Health Partnership Summit Held in New Delhi

  • The 4th edition of the Global Digital Health Partnership Summit was inaugurated in New Delhi on February 25, 2019 by the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri J P Nadda.
  • It was organised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in partnership with World Health Organization (WHO) and the Global Digital Health Partnership (GDHP).

PM Modi Dedicates National War Memorial to the Nation

  • The newly built National War Memorial was dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 25. It is situated near India Gate in New Delhi.
  • The memorial honours more than 25 thousand soldiers who have laid down their lives in the service of the country since Independence. 

Bihar Becomes First State to Get All Dog Squad to Check Liquor Smuggling

  • The Indian state of Bihar has become the first state in India which has raised its own dog squad to detect liquor consignment.
  • The squad consists of 20 dogs which have been imparted a nine-month training at Hyderabad-based Integrated Intelligence Training Academy before being inducted in the Bihar Police.
  • Now the total strength of the Bihar Police’s dog squad has become 68.
  • On each dog the state police has spent around Rs 1.71 lakh and two handlers have been deputed.

Rail Drishti Dashboard launched; All in One Portal about ongoing Railway works

  • Shri Piyush Goyal has launched Rail Drishti dashboard to keep people informed about the work going on in the Railways across the country. The url of the dashboard is “raildrishti.cris.org.in
  • The portal provides 15 user-friendly sections that would be beneficial for the users.

GST Council Cuts Rate On Under Construction Flats To 5% & Affordable Housing to 1%

  • The GST Council has announced to cut the GST tax rates on under-construction housing properties to 5 percent without input tax credit (ITC), from the existing 12 percent.
  • The Council has also cut GST rates on affordable housing to 1 percent without ITC from the current 8 percent.
  • The new tax rates will be effective from April 1, 2019

Definition of affordable housing

  • The Council has widened the scope of affordable housing as, 
  • A residential house/flat of carpet area of upto 90 sqm in non-metropolitan cities/towns and 60 sqm in metropolitan cities having value upto Rs. 45 lacs (both for metropolitan and non-metropolitan cities).

Deloitte Launches Global Women’s Support Programme ‘WorldClass’ in India

  • Deloitte has launched its global initiative ‘WorldClass’ in India to empower 10 million girls and women across the country by providing education and skills development. The target is to be achieved by 2030.
  • At the global level, the ‘WorldClass’ initiative of Deloitte aims to support 50 million women to make them industry ready.
  • The WorldClass initiative in India will focus on improving girls’ retention rate in school, higher educational outcomes, and skills development for women to access employment.

  • Indian Chess Grandmaster Abhijeet Gupta won the Cannes International chess title against Italian Grand Master Pier Luigi Basso in Cannes.

  • The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India(FMSCI) organised the 2018 FMSCI Annual Awards function on February 24, 2019.
  • Raghul Rangasamy of Chennai won the  “Upcoming Motorsports Person Of The Year” Award 2018 of FMSCI.
  • G R Karthikeyan (former president of FMSCI) was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
  • Chief Guest- Jean Todt (President of FIA (Le Federation Internationale de lAutomobile))
