Sebi unveils rules for reclassification of promoter as public investor

  • Markets regulator Sebi has come out with new rules for re-classification of a promoter as a public investor in its Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) (Sixth Amendment) Regulations, 2018.
  • The promoter(s) seeking re-classification and persons related to the promoter(s) seeking re-classification shall not together, hold more than ten percent of the total voting rights in the listed entity.
  • Furthermore, the promoter seeking re-classification must not be a wilful defaulter or a fugitive economic offender.

2nd Edition of India Gold and Jewellery Summit held in New Delhi

  • Union Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the 2nd Edition of India Gold and Jewellery Summit in New Delhi.
  • The Government has decided to set up a domestic Gold Council in India

WHO felicitates Nepal for eliminating trachoma, controlling Rubella

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) has felicitated Nepal for eliminating trachoma, a tropical disease that leads to blindness, as a public health problem and controlling rubella that causes serious and irreversible birth defects. 
  • Nepal is the first country in WHO South-East Asia Region, which also includes India, to eliminate trachoma as a public health problem, and among the first countries in the region to be verified for having controlled rubella.

IMD develops new technology to monitor impact of rain & deal with natural disasters

  • The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has developed a new technology to assess the rise of water level in rivers and reservoirs by rain. 
  • The technology, called ‘Impact Based Forecasting Approach’, which shows pre-event scenario, can help state governments to minutely monitor the impact of rain and take real-time decisions. 

Filmmaker Nandita Das to Receive FIAPF Award

  • Filmmaker Nandita Das will be honoured with the International Federation of Film Producers Associations( FIAPF) Award at the 12th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in Brisbane on November 29. 
  • She will be presented the award in recognition of her achievement in film in the Asia Pacific region.

Odisha CM releases Men’s Hockey World Cup anthem by Rahman – Jai Hind

  • Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik released Men’s Hockey World Cup anthem – Jai Hind composed by  A.R. Rahman and penned by lyricist Gulzar.
  • The 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup will be the 14th edition of the Hockey World Cup field hockey tournament. It is scheduled to be held from 28 November to 16 December 2018, at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Chelsea Legend Didier Drogba Announces Retirement From Professional Football at 40

  • Chelsea and Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 40.
  • He is from Ivory Coast and has played football for many clubs with Phoenix Rising being the latest.

Bhavani Devi wins gold in Senior commonwealth fencing

  • India’s C A Bhavani Devi won the gold medal in the Sabre event in the Senior Commonwealth Fencing championship 2018 held in Canberra, Australia.
  • Bhavani Devi is the first Indian to win a gold medal in the Commonwealth Championship. She defeated England’s Emily Ruaux 15-12 in the final
  • Chadalavada Anandha Sundhararaman Bhavani Devi, who is widely known as Bhavani Devi, is an Indian sabre fencer. 

Mary Kom wins Gold at 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships

  • M.C. Mary Kom’s record sixth gold at the 10th AIBA women’s boxing World Championships in the 45–48 kg category held in New Delhi. She defeated Hanna Okhota of Ukraine.
  • Sonia Chahal won Silver medal in the 57 kg category.
  • Apart from these Simranjit Kaur and Lovlina Borgohain from India won a broze medal each in the 64 kg category and 69 kg category respectively.

Former Indian Hockey Player Sandeep Michael Passes Away

  • Former India hockey player Sandeep Michael has passed away due to a brain infection. He was 33.
  • Michael won the ‘Most Promising Player’ award in the 2003 Asia Cup in Malaysia in which he captained the National Junior team to Gold
