AP CM launches Bhu-Seva land reforms programme

  • Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu launched Bhu-Seva programme.
  • Under the programme, each land in the state would be allotted a unique 11 digit identity number, which would be called ‘Bhudhar’.
  • All revenue land-related transactions, like mutation, registration etc, will be carried out through the Bhudhar card.
  • As a part of this project, all the integrated services of government departments related to lands will be available through Bhu Seva.

Maharashtra Government Passes Maratha Reservation Bill With New ‘SEBC’ Category

  • The Devendra Fadnavis-led government in Maharashtra passed the Maratha Reservation Bill on November 18, 2018.
  • Maharashtra will create a new category called SEBC (socially and economically backward) in order to give reservation to Marathas, as per the recommendation of the Maharashtra State Backward Class Commission.
  • The need to create the new category for Marathas was felt citing ‘extraordinary circumstance’ so that rights of neither Other Backward Classes (OBCs) nor Marathas are affected.

49th International Film Festival of India begins in Goa

  • The 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) began in Goa. 
  • Veteran Israeli filmmaker Dan Wolman was presented this year’s lifetime achievement award. 
  • Israel is the focus country while Jharkhand is the focus state this year in the event. Chaitanya Prasad is the Director of IFFI 2018 Festival

7th International Tourism Mart to be held in Agartala, Tripura

  • The 7th “International Tourism Mart” will be held in Agartala, Tripura from the 22nd to 24th November 2018.
  • It will be organised by Ministry of Tourism in association with the Department of Tourism, Government of Tripura and the North Eastern States.
  • The International Tourism Marts are organised in the North Eastern States on rotation basis. 18 countries will participate in the mart.

Dr Jitendra Singh releases book ‘Radio Kashmir – In Times of Peace & War’

  • Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh released a book titled ‘Radio Kashmir – In Times of Peace & War’ written by Dr Rajesh Bhat.
  • Dr Jitendra Singh congratulated the author of the book and appreciated his efforts for writing a book on Jammu and Kashmir after extensive and in-depth research.

Government of India and the World Bank sign $310 million Loan Agreement for Jharkhand Power System Improvement Project

  • The Government of India, the Government of Jharkhand and the World Bank signed a $310 million Loan Agreement for Jharkhand Power System Improvement Project to provide reliable, quality, and affordable 24×7 electricity to the citizens of Jharkhand.
  • The Project is part of the Government of India’s Power for All program launched in 2014.
  • The $310 Million Loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), has a 5-year grace period, and a final maturity of 25 years.

India, Russia sign USD 500 mn deal for construction of 2 warships for Indian Navy

  • India and Russia Tuesday sealed a USD 500 million deal for construction of two missile frigates (Talvar-class warships) in Goa for the Indian Navy

2018 APEC Summit Held in Papua New Guinea

  • The 2018 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit was held in Papua New Guinea on November 17-18, 2018. It was the first time Papua New Guinea hosted the APEC meetings.
  • Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Peter O’Neill hosted the meet attended by all the 21 member nations.
  • For the first time in the summit’s history, regional leaders failed to agree on a final communique because of repeated clash between US and China over the language on trade in the final document.
  • The summit closed without a joint statement from the leaders.

  • Indo Japan Business Council Meet named KONNICHIWA PUNE FESTIVAL was held in Pune on 17th & 18th November 2018. 

Aero India 2019 to be held in Bengaluru

  • The 12th edition of ‘Aero India 2019’ would be held in Bengaluru, (Karnataka) from 20 to 24 February 2019. It is organised once in a two year.
  • The logo for Aero India 2019 is inspired by the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA). 
  • Tagline for Aero India 2019: “The Runway to a Billion Opportunities”

Voreqe Bainimarama sworn in as Fiji PM

  • Fiji’s Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has been sworn in for his second term at a ceremony held in the capital city of Suva.
  • His FijiFirst party won 50.02 percent of the vote in general elections and 27 seats in the 51-seat parliament.

Millie Bobby Brown named UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador

  • English actress and model Millie Bobby Brown has been named UNICEF’s youngest-ever Goodwill Ambassador. 
  • The appointment was marked on World Children’s Day at United Nations Headquarters.

Padma Shri awardee saint Narayan Das Maharaj passes away

  • Padma Shri awardee and revered saint Narayan Das Maharaj of Triveni dham near Jaipur passed away.
  • He was awarded Padma Shri in 2018.
