“PARIVESH” – single window hub for Environment, Forest, Wildlife and CRZ clearances launched by MoEF

  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, launched PARIVESH (Pro-Active and Responsive facilitation by Interactive,Virtuous and Environmental Single-window Hub) of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
  • PARIVESH is an environmental single window hub for Environment, Forest, Wildlife and Coastal Regulation Zone(CRZ) clearances. 

Indian Railways to Launch Digital Museum

  • The Railway Ministry has decided to launch “Digital Museums” at 22 big stations on Independence Day to make people aware of the rich heritage of Indian Railways.
  • The pilot phase of the project will showcase the heritage of the Indian Railways through movie clips of one-two minutes on the digital LED screens at the station entrance and comfort zones. 
  • Currently, the digital museum is on display at stations like Jaipur, Agra Cantonment, Erode, Katihar and others.

Ravi Shankar Prasad launches ‘Vision Document’ for digital North East

  • The Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad released the “Digital North East Vision 2022” in Guwahati to enhance the life of the people by capacity building of government staff and doubling BPO strength in the region.
  • The Vision Document emphasizes leveraging digital technologies to transform the lives of people of the northeast and enhance the ease of living.
  • The document identifies eight digital thrust areas –digital infrastructure, digital services, digital empowerment, promotion of electronics manufacturing, promotion of IT and IT enabled services including BPOs, digital payments, innovation & startups, and cyber security.

Transport Ministry Notifies Colour for Registration Mark of Battery Operated Vehicles

  • All Battery Operated Vehicles shall now exhibit their registration mark in Yellow colour on Green background for transport vehicles and for all other cases, in White colour on Green background.
  • The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified amendments to Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 to this effect

Exercise SCO Peace Mission 2018 To Be held in Russia

  • As part of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) initiatives, SCO Peace Mission Exercise is conducted biennially for SCO member states.
  • The joint exercise for the year 2018 will be conducted by Central Military Commission of Russia from 22 August to 29 August 2018 at Chebarkul, Chelyabinsk, Russia.
  • This will be a historic occasion due to the maiden participation of India post becoming a full member of the SCO in June 2017. 

Exim Bank signs MoU with BRICS Development Banks

  • The Exim Bank of India has signed a multilateral cooperation agreement with member development banks of BRICS to undertake “collaborative research” in distributed ledger/blockchain technology.
  • The new initiative aims at identifying potential applications of the distributed ledger/blockchain technology, in the financial sector, particularly in the area of infrastructure financing.
  • The distributed ledger/blockchain technology replaces the old processes and paperwork with a new-found innovative process that is faster, and can offer tangible outcome.
  • Exim Bank of India is the nominated member development bank under the BRICS Interbank Cooperation Mechanism.
  • Other nominated member development banks from BRICS nations are: Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social – BNDES, Brazil; State Corporation Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs – Vnesheconombank, Russia; China Development Bank Corporation, and Development Bank of Southern Africa.

Recapitalisation Scheme for Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) extended up to 2019-20

  • Recently the Government has approved extension of the scheme of recapitalisation of RRBs for further period of three years upto 2019-20.
  • The scheme for recapitalisation of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) started in financial year 2010-11 and was subsequently extended upto 31.03.2017.
  • Under the scheme, recapitalization support is provided to RRBs to maintain minimum prescribed CRAR level of 9%.
