34th SAARC Charter Day: December 8

  • The member states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) celebrated 34th SAARC Charter Day on December  8, 2018.
  • It was on this day on 8th December, 1985, that the leader of the Seven South Asian Countries had signed the contract (means charter) in Dhaka to set up the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
  • SAARC member states: Maldives, India, Bhutan, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladeshi and Sri Lanka)
  • SAARC was joined by the Afghanistan as a Member during the 14th meeting of SAARC in Delhi in April, 2007.
  • SAARC Secretariat: Kathmandu Nepal.
